What is a dental implant?

A dental implant is a small titanium (or zirconia) screw placed in the jawbone where a tooth is missing. After it has fused with the bone, a crown is fixed on top. The result looks, feels and functions like a natural tooth.

Who is it for?

Implants suit adults who have lost one or more teeth and have enough healthy bone — or can receive a bone graft. Before recommending an implant we always check whether your own tooth can still be saved with a root canal treatment or a crown.

The process in Istanbul

Visit 1 (5–7 days): examination, 3D scan, implant placement and a temporary solution.
Healing (3–6 months at home): the implant integrates with the bone.
Visit 2 (5–7 days): the final crown is made and fitted.

Risks and aftercare

As with any surgery there can be swelling, bruising or — rarely — infection or implant failure. Smokers and patients with uncontrolled diabetes have a higher risk. Good oral hygiene and regular check-ups are essential for the implant to last for many years.

Do dental implants hurt?

The procedure is done under local anaesthesia, so you feel pressure but no pain. Mild soreness for a few days afterwards is normal and is controlled with standard painkillers.

How long do I need to stay in Istanbul for implants?

Usually two trips: about 5–7 days for placement and 5–7 days for the final crowns, 3–6 months apart.

Which implant brands do you use?

Is an implant a painful procedure?

No. Since it is done under local anesthesia, no pain is felt during the procedure.

Can an implant be done for a single tooth?

Yes, an implant can be applied even for just one missing tooth.

It varies depending on the brand used, the number of missing teeth, and the condition of the superstructure (prosthesis) material you choose.

When can I eat after an implant?

Liquid foods are recommended for the first few days. You can switch to soft foods the same day.

Can everyone get an implant?

Generally yes. However, overall health condition and bone structure must be evaluated.

Can smokers get implants?

It can be done but may negatively affect the healing process. Success rate may decrease.

Will there be swelling after an implant?

There may be mild swelling and bruising, usually subsiding within a few days with cold ice compresses.

Can an implant fall out, can the body reject it?

Very rarely. With proper application and quality materials, the success rate is quite high.

Can an implant be done immediately after tooth extraction?

Depending on the situation, yes. In suitable cases, the implant can be placed in the same session.

Is it safe to get dental treatment in Turkey?
